Initial Visit / Forms

What can I expect at my first visit?

Expect gentle, insightful listening: over the course of an hour (or more), I will conduct a detailed confidential health history interview to best evaluate your condition within the framework of Chinese traditional medicine. This will include questions and observations about various aspects of your physical and emotional condition, diet, exercise, and lifestyle.

What constitutes a treatment plan?

After making an assessment, I will recommend a personalized course of treatment, which may include acupuncture, Chinese herbal therapy, dietary changes, exercises, and/or lifestyle changes. Prognosis and outcome indicators will be discussed, and your questions will be answered thoroughly.

How should I prepare for an acupuncture treatment?

*   Schedule your appointment such that you don’t need to rush out immediately after the treatment. For some people, it can take 5-10 minutes to feel alert after acupuncture.
*   Wear loose-fitting, comfortable clothing that easily allows access to forearms, lower legs, and abdomen.
*   Eat a light meal beforehand, avoiding any intoxicants and stimulants (alcohol, drugs, coffee, soda, cigarettes).
*   Bring any updated medical information, including test results, medication changes, and basal body temperature/menstrual charting.

Mutual Respect Statement:

“As your acupuncturist, I commit to providing you with professional, compassionate, and individualized care. For your comfort and privacy, I will provide essential materials for covering your body during the treatment. I will also step out of the room while you change clothes, allowing you the time you need.

Clear and honest communication is vital to your healing process. Please feel free to express any concerns, preferences, or feedback in a respectful and well-mannered tone, and I will do the same. Together, we will create a respectful, safe, and supportive environment for your wellness journey.”
